Dear New Fairfield Basketball Community:
Due to not being able to use the school district facilities this winter, the NFYB Board had made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020-21 in-house programs. This includes our clinics, recreation league and high school co-ed league.
We know this will be a huge disappointment for our young players. As a community organization, we will make every effort to resume programming next season. We will provide updates as they become available.
Thanks for your understanding and support during these challenging times. Be safe and healthy.
NEW FAIRFIELD YOUTH BASKETBALL BOARD
New Fairfield Youth Basketball, Inc. ("NFYB") is a non-profit corporation organized to provide the youth of New Fairfield, CT with the opportunity to play, learn and appreciate the game of basketball. It will help teach the basic principles of healthy competition, sportsmanship, and the value of teamwork, which will serve them in life as well in sports.
NFYB has 4 separate programs serving the youth in our community:
1. Travel Basketball – grades 4 through 8 typically have one travel basketball team for each grade/gender combination. These travel teams compete against teams from other towns as part of the Fairfield County Basketball League (FCBL). Each team typically has 10 players on the roster, and rosters are selected via mandatory tryouts prior to the season.
2. In-House Basketball Clinic (grades 1 and 2) – boy and girl participants attend once-per-week Saturday sessions focusing on fun activities that teach basic basketball skills and keep kids active.
3. In-House Basketball (grades 3-8) – participants are assigned to a team and compete against other NF teams within their age group and gender. There is typically one practice with their team during the week and one game per week.
4. In-House Basketball (High School) - participants are assigned to a co-ed team and play one or more games per week against other NF High School In-House teams.
