Travel

New Fairfield Youth Basketball's travel program provides advanced players in our community the opportunity to play, learn and appreciate the game of basketball in a competitive environment and teaches the basic principles of healthy competition, sportsmanship and teamwork, which will serve them in life as well in sports. Grades 3 through 8 typically have one travel basketball team for each grade/gender combination. These travel teams compete against teams from other towns as part of the Fairfield County Basketball League (FCBL). Each team typically has 10 players on the roster, and rosters are selected via mandatory tryouts prior to the season.

Eligibility

Open to all boys and girls in grades 3-8 that live in or attend school in New Fairfield, CT.

When

Tryouts will be held October 14-17 (schedule above). Those chosen for a travel team will begin practice in November and the season will run from December through March.

Where

Practices are held at New Fairfield schools and games are playing throughout Fairfield County and the surrounding region.

Practices

Teams will typically practice twice per week.

Games

Teams will typically have games on Saturdays and/or Sundays each weekend during the season. Multiple games may be scheduled in a day. Teams may enter tournaments which may be during holiday school breaks.

Jerseys

A player's uniform set (jersey & shorts) is included for their first season. Any subsequent replacements must be purchased.

Payment

A tryout fee of $15 will be collected online upon registration

If your child makes a travel team, the fee for the season will be $350 ($450 for teams with a paid coach), with payments divided into 2 equal installments with the first installment of $175 ($225 for teams with a paid coach) to be automatically debited from the SAME ACCOUNT as the tryout fee on 11/15/2025. The remaining balance of $175 ($225 for teams with a paid coach) will be automatically debited from the SAME ACCOUNT on 12/15/2025. If your child does not make a travel team, they are encouraged to register to play on an in-house team.

For 2025-26, paid coaches will be used for 6th Boys, 7th Girls and 8th Boys.
